Welcome to the Mizzou Leadership Academy’s official website. Here you can find information about the upcoming Academy which will be held on Saturday, November 3rd 2012. Make sure to check back regularly to find out more information about who is speaking and how you can attend.
What is The Academy?
The idea behind the Mizzou Leadership Academy is to provide an opportunity to train and educate students who are in leadership positions on campus about effective authentic leadership. The conference focuses on students who are serving as President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary or similar position in one of Mizzou’s 600+ student organizations. However, it also seeks to provide a stepping stone for students who are aspiring to be leaders in either a student organization or in the community. The content will be shared through a keynote speaker, a large group session, and small group conference style component. Topics we hope to cover include Authentic Leadership, Identity Development, Goals/Mission Development, Creating Change, Civic Engagement, Relationship Building, and Strengths-based leadership. Additionally, at the conference style sessions we hope to address the individual responsibilities, expectations, and roles of each of the above named positions.
There are three primary focuses for the Academy…
- Provide students with educational resources around leadership best practices and skill building.
- Assist students in developing social and professional relationships with other campus leaders to foster collaboration between student groups.
- Help students learn ways to maximize their involvement experience at Mizzou to help them be more effective in their future careers.
